Restoring Hope Through Healthcare

Dear John,

‌

With the help of our generous donors, World Vision has been able to provide emergency medical assistance, clean water, and sanitation and hygiene supplies that help protect and strengthen the health of girls, boys, women, and men.

‌

Lives are being saved, and hope is being restored for girls, boys, women and men whose lives and communities have been impacted by severe challenges. They know they are not alone.

‌

Here’s a glimpse of what we accomplished in 2022 by joining hands with our donors to help improve healthcare for children in the world’s most difficult places:

5,409,916 pieces of protective equipment were distributed, including medical masks, gloves, surgical gowns, and eye protection.

‌

44,592 women are now using at least one method of family planning to space out their pregnancies, supporting their long-term health and well-being.

‌

272,988 patient consultations were provided by community health workers and 144,273 more by health professionals through projects supported by World Vision.

‌

22,735 girls and boys received treatment for malnutrition.

Restoring Hope and Health in Afghanistan

The humanitarian response to the massive earthquake that struck western Afghanistan in October is active and ongoing. The 6.3 magnitude quake hit about 50 kilometers northwest of Herat city. It was the seventh earthquake in eight days, devastating an already fragile area and impacting the lives and wellbeing of about 12,110 people across five districts.

World Vision is there, travelling in mobile health units to the areas most damaged by the earthquakes. We are providing emergency health care to the survivors. Families also receive hygiene kits and other essentials to help restore and protect their health as they live in the upheaval of this natural disaster.

Thamindri de Silva, World Vision’s national director in Afghanistan, shares that people are still actively searching for lost family members in the rubble. "People need urgent medical care, water, food, shelter and help to stay safe,” he said. “Please stand with us as we respond.”

‌

As Afghanistan continues to recover and rebuild after recent earthquakes, we want you to know that, with your help, girls, boys and their families are receiving the emergency assistance and health care they need to survive this crisis, and to grow stronger for the future. Thank you.
