MSF team members in Gaza bear witness to desperate conditions inside the Strip over the last six weeks.
“We are alone now. No one hears us,” said Dr. Mohammed Obeid in a call from inside Al-Shifa Hospital while it was under fire on November 11. Dr. Obeid is one of many Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) staff members in Gaza who have been working throughout nearly two months of all-out war between Israel and Hamas. Our staff have been risking their lives to provide care under siege and under intense bombardment by Israeli forces. While a temporary pause in fighting has brought some relief to people in Gaza, there is widespread fear and uncertainty about what comes next. MSF is calling for a sustained ceasefire to save lives and enable an urgent scale-up of humanitarian assistance.
Our team members are sending voice notes and messages when they can to shed light on the catastrophic situation in health facilities, all while coping with the personal impacts of death, destruction, and displacement. Read the stories >>
