MediaJustice’s community is actively building the capacity needed to defeat harmful narratives, racialized disinformation, copaganda, and surveillance technology. In 2023, MediaJustice’s team:
Trained over 100 journalists, media makers, and organizers nationwide on identifying and defeating police propaganda in their communities using original case studies from our grassroots partners in the MediaJustice Network;
Graduated a cohort of 12 BIPOC and LGBTQ+ fellows from our paid eight-month MediaJustice Network Fellowship, which this year paired fellows with movement mentors to create unique projects to tackle racialized disinformation;
Taught over 200 people how to analyze the historical and current state of surveillance technology (ankle monitors and other electronic monitoring [EM]) and how to reclaim the narrative with effective messaging & storytelling that have been instrumental in local EM campaigns.
We are close to our goal of raising $25,000 to continue this work in 2024. Your donation helps MediaJustice reclaim power from Big Media and Big Tech so we can fight on our terms.
