Friend — when it comes to climate action, the whole nation watches what California does.

Other states and even other countries view our Low Carbon Fuel Standards (LCFS) as a model for their transportation transition policies.

That’s why it’s so gratifying to see the momentum behind adopting strong LCFS rules. Over 5,000 EnviroVoters members have already signed onto our petition — Friend, will you join them by adding your name?

Modernizing California’s LCFS program will help protect the health of frontline communities and help the state achieve its climate goals, which have ripple effects worldwide.

We can’t be using combustion fuels if we want to solve the climate crisis. Thank you for taking action to call for this key policy update to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Tell California leaders: To reduce greenhouse gas emissions, we need stronger Low Carbon Fuel Standards!

Hi friend,

At a recent meeting, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) spent eight hours discussing the Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS). Here’s why that matters — for California and the whole world:

LCFS is an important clean transportation program in California. It’s designed to encourage the use of cleaner low-carbon transportation fuels in the state, encourage the production of those fuels, and therefore reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and decrease petroleum dependence in the transportation sector.

However, to actually protect the health of frontline communities and help the state achieve its climate goals that have international implications, the LCFS is in desperate need of changes.

For instance, LCFS currently favors the use of combustion fuels, which are NOT a climate solution. Of all the credits the program has driven, 80% have gone to renewable diesel, ethanol, biodiesel, and biomethane producers — compared to just 20% for electric transportation.

It’s time to stop incentivizing harmful fuels and actually align the program with California’s climate goals.

That’s why I’m asking you to add your name to our petition calling on California leaders to adopt stronger Low Carbon Fuel Standards >> [link removed]

This doesn’t just affect California, friend.

Other states and even other countries view our LCFS as a model for their transportation transition policies, so modernizing California’s LCFS program will have a ripple effect worldwide.

Let’s make sure CARB and LCFS work for people in California and around the world who want to breathe clean air, instead of for industries that just want to keep polluting that air to protect their business models.
