After several rough months for Congress — deposing the Speaker and wrestling over funding the government through the holidays — it may seem that the major issues are out of the way for the rest of 2023. Government funding will continue, via a continuing resolution, through January 2024 and several reauthorizations that still need to be passed (such as the Federal Aviation Administration bill) are not controversial. However, there are real disagreements over abortion funding, immigration, and foreign aid that Congress must resolve before the end of the year.
