This year, foreign companies spent over 50 million dollars in Maine's
elections. Next year they'll be able to spend 0.

The impact of Question 2 passing is truly enormous: this year, a whopping
83% of the funding for Maine's referendum battles came from corporations
influenced by foreign governments as they fought over energy production
rights. This type of campaign spending is now illegal and puts the people
of Maine back in charge. 

At RepresentUs, we power grassroots campaigns because we know
transformative change starts at the local level, and this is a perfect
example of that. Not only will Maine’s victory prevent foreign
interference in that state, but it’s a smart national strategy to put
cracks in the Citizens United and SpeechNow doctrine that gave us
SuperPACs. As the saying goes, “As Maine goes, so goes the nation.”

This landslide victory would not have been possible without our incredible
RepresentUs volunteers. Leading up to the election, dozens of volunteers
dedicated their time to send over 320,000 texts and made more than 25,000
phone calls in support of Question 2.
