Did you know that many candidates are in significant financial debt before they even announce they’re running for office? There are so many campaign expenses that must be covered BEFORE our candidates can even start raising money to fund their races.

One particularly outrageous (but necessary) expense: launch videos.

For women candidates, launch videos are especially important. It gives them a chance to tell their story on their own terms (before misogyny, double standards, and blatant sexism start creeping into the conversation).

That’s why, since our founding, Her Bold Move has been helping female candidates by creating these videos for them – pro bono.

We are very proud to offer our candidates this game-changing service for free. Especially because political ads are EXPENSIVE to produce – they can cost tens of thousands of dollars!

On average, campaigns spend about $30,000 or more just to create their first video. For candidates without access to early funding, this is cost-prohibitive. These candidates spend the early days of their campaign trying to RAISE money while their opponents are already out meeting with voters and gaining traction.

Needless to say, our candidates often begin their campaigns at an insurmountable disadvantage. That’s why Her Bold Move supports our candidates by producing these commercials and donating them to campaigns as in-kind contributions.

But here’s the thing: We need to start creating these videos NOW so our candidates can use them as they launch their campaigns in January and February. We need to raise the necessary funds for this program before the end of the year.

Deserving, pro-choice female candidates from across the country are getting ready to announce their campaigns RIGHT NOW, and these launch videos will help them get the early support that is CRITICAL to a successful campaign. We saw some major victories in 2023, and now we have the chance to keep up the momentum for important races up and down the ballot in 2024.
