** Widespread confusion over number of ‘people’ on NHS waiting lists ([link removed])

There has been confusion recently over NHS waiting lists. Last week, at Prime Minister’s Questions, for example, Sir Keir Starmer said that “7.8 million people” are currently on NHS waiting lists. Similar claims were made by several newspapers and politicians.

Full Fact looked into the claim in more detail and found that this is not what NHS data shows. Around 6.5 million people are waiting for 7.8 million courses of treatment in England, according to the latest figures, because some are waiting for more than one thing.

** Prime Minister takes a hammering online but claim doesn’t hit the nail on the head ([link removed])

In footage circulated on Instagram a video of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak can be seen under the caption “Rishi Sunak doesn’t know how to use a hammer”. The video was shared on other social media platforms.

But in a longer version of the video, Mr Sunak is seen asking a woman which side of the hammer he should be using to take part in the demonstration. She picked one out for him, then told him: “You’re going to use this bit” while gesturing at the side of the hammer.

Mr Sunak replied “Oh, sideways?“, and the woman said “yeah”.
