DES marking drilling locations along Deschutes Parkway
Scope & Impact: This Friday, DES crews will be visible using spray paint to mark the location of planned drilling sites around Capitol Lake to help prepare for underground utility location.
Where: Starting at Heritage Park and continuing around the perimeter of Capitol Lake along Deschutes Parkway Southwest to the Interpretive Park Trail.
When: Crews will mark planned drilling locations on Friday, Dec. 1 starting at 9 a.m. and underground utility location will take place the week of Dec. 4-8.
Why: As part of the Deschutes Estuary Restoration Project, DES will be conducting a geotechnical survey of the land around Capitol Lake that will require drilling into the ground to collect samples. State law requires underground utility locates before digging or drilling to prevent unintentional damage to utility lines.
All work is weather dependent. The Washington State Department of Enterprise Services has contracted with FLOYD | SNIDER of Seattle, Washington for this effort.
