Hi John,

We have to talk about what’s happening with Trump here in Georgia. No, not about the election interference case happening in Fulton County — though that is huge news.

I’m talking about the fact that despite the fact that he’s facing criminal charges in our state for election interference, Trump is currently ahead in Georgia’s GOP primary polls by 45 points.

Yes. In a field of seven candidates, Donald Trump has 55% of the Republican support in our state. Ron DeSantis is in second place with 10%.

Personally, I’m not a fan of any of the Republican candidates. But the one leading in the polls cut at the core of our democracy in a historic way. My husband Hank was in the House chamber when the insurrectionists stormed the Capitol on the orders of Donald Trump nearly three years ago.

I don’t want us to go back there.

For reasons I’ll never truly understand, the Republican Party is throwing its support behind Trump. And it will be up to Hank and a handful of others in Georgia to muster the resources to stop Trump from winning here next November.
