1) How Governor DeSantis Can Knock Out Governor Hair Gel
Don’t forget to tune in tonight for what is likely to be the most entertaining and head-butting political debate of the year.

Over the last several weeks we’ve been offering up charts and statistics on the clear superiority of Florida’s policies and socio-economic conditions over those of California.

Here’s a nice concise compare and contrast table:

Steve Moore has a piece in today’s Wall Street Journal on the demise of the once-Golden State.

2) Biden Policies Reversed Decades of Long-Term Real Price Declines
One thing is absolutely certain: Biden didn’t inherit any inflation. The rate was 1.6% when he entered office. That low inflation had persisted for at least two decades BEFORE Biden entered office. Richard Rahn, the former chief economist at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, recently published this table measuring prices based on the minutes one has to work to afford products:

Rahn explains:

Notice that for each commodity, the long-term price — in minutes worked — declines up to the year 2020, and then there is an increase in the labor minutes price. In case you think I selected years and commodities to fit my argument for a long-term decline in the real price of most items followed by a bump up in the last three years, select other commodities (that are widely traded with transparent prices), pick any starting year and do your own calculations. The same pattern will be apparent.

3) Tennessee Governor Lee to Push For Major School Choice Expansion
Another victory for school choice may be in the offing and could keep our string of victories in the states this year rolling into 2024.

Republican Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee announced this week:

“It’s time for a statewide school choice plan that empowers parents, equips students for success, and allows Tennessee taxpayers to decide how their own dollars are invested."

[link removed]
Lee is proposing an expansion of a pilot program that allows 3,400 families to use Education Savings Accounts to attend non-public schools to include 20,000 students.

The students would be able to use more than $7,000 a year to pay for private school tuition and other expenses. His plan has already been endorsed by key legislative leaders in the GOP-majority legislature, greatly enhancing its chances of passage and an even greater expansion of the program next year.

4) Auto Dealers to Biden: Stop Mandating EVs That People Won’t Buy
If a dog doesn’t want to take a pill, once he clenches his jaws shut, there is just about no way of prying his mouth open.

The same can be said of getting car buyers to purchase cars they don’t want. Despite all the tens of billions of dollars of bribes/enticements the government is dangling in front of them, millions of car buyers are saying “no thanks” to EVs.

Now auto dealers around the country are revolting. Earlier this week more than 3,800 auto dealerships (including four owned by the family of Virginia Democrat Don Beyer) urged the Biden administration to stop forcing EVs down their throats.

[link removed]
In their letter to the president, they write:

Your Administration has proposed regulations that would essentially mandate a dramatic shift to battery electric vehicles (BEVs), increasing year after year until 2032, when two out of every three vehicles sold in America would have to be battery electric.

Currently, there are many excellent battery electric vehicles available for consumers to purchase. We believe their appeal will grow over time. The reality, however, is that electric vehicle demand today is not keeping up with the large influx of BEVs arriving at our dealerships prompted by the current regulations. BEVs are stacking up on our lots...

Mr. President, it is time to tap the brakes on the unrealistic government electric vehicle mandate.

Will Biden listen? Doubtful.

5) Leftist Foundations are Paying Big Media To Scare Monger on Climate Change
The year’s United Nations Climate Change Conference is meeting in Dubai this week, but media and public interest is fading. Influential business network CNBC has just dismantled the network’s “climate change desk.”

[link removed]
“CNBC has dismantled its climate desk and will no longer have staff dedicated to covering climate change,” reports Bloomberg’s Akshat Rathi, noting that CNBC “climate innovation” reporters Catherine Clifford and Katie Brigham among others were being let go.

So what is keeping this never-ending story of a coming apocalypse going?

Bribes from a small handful of multi-billion dollar “philanthropic” foundations. In Britain alone, the Gates Foundation has donated some $83 million to the Guardian newspaper, the BBC, and other outlets to “enhance” their climate coverage. In the U.S., the Associated Press hired 20 climate change reporters last year after getting $8 million in funding from liberal foundations.

Covering Climate Now, supported by other liberal foundations, spoon-feeds prepackaged alarmist stories to partners that include Reuters, Bloomberg, CBS News, ABC News and — of course — MSNBC.

Neil Winton, the former science and technology correspondent for Reuters, laments that his old employer seems to have “sold out to the hysterics and axe grinders.” He says stories used to be held to strict standards of accuracy, both sides were asked for comment and reporting was balanced. Now Wilson says stories by Reuters on climate change are in “direct contradiction” to those values.

So we now have yet another victim of the Climate Change Industrial Complex: journalistic ethics.
