Celebrating One Million Delivered! |
In the past four weeks, Rural Americans United’s pro-Democratic radio spots have been heard one million times by listeners throughout Central Washington! For the very first time, thousands of people have been exposed to core Democratic goals with the power to vastly improve the lives of working class people on the eastside of the Cascades. In all, RAU has committed to a $350,000, 14-month media blitz, which will blanket the 4th District with 20,000 separate radio spots. In English and Spanish, the ads are believed to be the largest public awareness campaign ever launched in the state. |
The first month of RAU’s remarkable advertising campaign was met with a wave of support pouring in from across the state, thanking us for giving them hope and representation in communities that are often subjected to intimidation and even violence against those that hold democratic values. When I write us, I mean all of us that contribute, write notes of encouragement, support candidates, run for office and so many other things. Winning is never a singular accomplishment, it takes all of us. To keep these inspiring pro-Democratic broadcast messages rolling, Rural Americans United needs your financial support. Please help us celebrate the holiday season and the New Year with great joy, knowing the lives of so many have been touched with good and sensible values. We must raise $43,000 dollars before the end of the year to keep the momentum up. Click here to help RAU meet this year's funding goal. |

Local Media Gains Interest in Democrats |
We are making Central Washington Democrats newsworthy again! For thirty years or more Democrats have had little to no relationship with TV, radio and newspapers. Without solid Democratic political infrastructure, journalists seeking quotes from a Democrat are unsure where to turn. There is a continuous onslaught of Republican noise in Central Washington; but without Democratic media infrastructure, the business of creating responses and structuring information in a form that radio, TV and print journalists can use just doesn’t happen. Without sources for the Democratic side of stories, local media are left with only Republican party rhetoric while the Democratic voice diminishes. |
Starting two years ago, RAU began rebuilding these important relationships with the media to get our story out there. During the last election cycle we started to see the fruits of our efforts. We were able to get pro-Democratic articles published in papers up and down Central Washington as well as in Seattle and Spokane. Additionally, we placed articles calling out the heinous methods that local Republican parties are using to subvert the political process, undermine election integrity and unfairly sway voting to their benefit. As a result of our work, Central Washington media outlets are showing a new interest in Democrat content. We will continue to build on that success, working to increase the visibility and voice of rural Americans. Your generous support is making all the difference! A sample of publications are below. |

Q/A with Senators Murray and Cantwell's Offices |
The needs of Central Washington and the good work that our Senators are doing on our behalf will be the talking points for an upcoming Q/A. This regularly scheduled Zoom meeting is to increase the accessibility of our elected members of Congress to the people of Central Washington. We are grateful to Senate staffers Raquel Crowley and Rick Evans for their willingness to take time from their very busy schedules to speak directly with the constituents of Central Washington. Details are still being confirmed, and we will release information as it becomes available. Please note: this is a non-partisan event, the topics will be limited to our elected Senators' work in Congress and be managed through our non-partisan 501(c)3, RAU Education Fund. |
