Yellow Cold-Health Alerts issued in East Midlands

Winter

UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA)?and the Met Office have issued a yellow Cold-Health Alert (CHA) in East Midlands and West Midlands.

The alert is in place from 6PM on Tuesday 28 November to midday on Tuesday 5 December. Average temperatures are forecasted to be around or less than 2?C during the time of the alert, with wintry showers, icy conditions, and some snow.

UKHSA and Met Office introduced the?new?CHA?system?where a yellow alert means that there will be an increased use of health care services by vulnerable populations and an increase in risk to health for individuals over the age of 65, those with pre-existing health conditions, as well as those sleeping rough.

If you are among vulnerable groups, make sure to heat the rooms where you spend most of your time in and to wear a few thin layers rather than one thick layer.
