It’s been over two months since Storm Daniel struck the coast of Libya, washing away entire neighborhoods.
880,000 people were affected by the floods, including 24,000 pregnant women in need of essential sexual and reproductive health services.
Thanks to gifts from supporters, like you, UNFPA was on the ground immediately delivering humanitarian aid and essential supplies to survivors.
400 Mama Kits were dispatched to ensure that new mothers have everything they need for themselves and their newborns. They include: Clothing for the mother and her baby, diapers, baby blanket, baby soap, and more.
UNFPA distributed 1,000 Dignity Kits to ensure that women and girls can maintain their personal healthcare needs after a crisis. They include: Menstrual pads, bath soap, multiple pairs of underwear, a flashlight, toothpaste, a toothbrush, and more.
As the world has moved on from the flood response crisis in Libya, we’re facing a major gap to our Flash Appeal to ensure survivors can access the sexual and reproductive health services that they need. So we’re asking you today:
Will you rush an emergency gift now to help in Libya and humanitarian crises around the world? Pregnant women and newborns are at heightened risk in the aftermath of Libya’s floods.
We never walk away from women and girls who are in need — even once a disaster fades from the headlines. Thank you for supporting our ongoing work and delivering much needed care.
