John,

Studies have shown that, on average, male candidates raise about one-third more than women running for the same seats.

This fundraising gap is even larger for Black, brown, and other women of color.

In over 90% of House of Representatives elections, the candidate who spends more wins. It’s that simple.

Money shouldn’t be the reason our candidates win or lose — but it almost always is.

So when we say our candidates are underfunded, and rely on groups like HER Time to make up the difference, it’s not just empty words.

And when we say we’re behind on our November fundraising goal, and we may have to scale back our support for our frontline candidates, that may mean the difference between winning or losing on Election Day.

That’s why I’m coming to you today to ask: Can I count on your support today to contribute any amount to help level the playing field for our women candidates? [[link removed]]

As much as I would love to get money out of politics, the truth of the matter is that until that happens, we have to play ball and compete with Republicans’ deep pockets.

That’s why I’m so grateful for whatever you’re able to contribute.
