Help Bring Birds Back From The Brink; Piping Plovers.
Piping Plovers.
Your support protects birds like the Piping Plover.
You can protect birds and the places they need

At one point the Great Lakes region was home to anywhere from 500 to 800 nesting pairs of Piping Plovers. But by 1990, that number dwindled to about a dozen pairs, all in northern Michigan.

The Piping Plover is endangered or threatened across every corner of its range—and it is nearly gone as a breeder from the entire Great Lakes region.

That’s why we’re doing everything we can for birds like the Piping Plover. Thanks to our extended Giving Tuesday challenge, we can unlock an additional $30,000 for birds if we get 300 new monthly donors by midnight tomorrow. Will you be one of the 25 donors we need right now to stay on track?
Don't let birds disappear; Bird Illistrations.
We’re working with partners in the Great Lakes to bring the Piping Plover back from the brink. In fact, this past July captive-reared Piping Plovers were released in Lower Green Bay for the first time ever.

This is the first year captive-reared Great Lakes Piping Plovers were released outside the state of Michigan, where most of its population is found, marking a huge recovery milestone for these endangered birds.

We’re hopeful that with continued work and monitoring we can increase the nesting pairs found across the Great Lakes.

This is just one example of the important work we’re doing to protect beloved birds. And with your help, we’ll continue our essential work on behalf of birds like the Piping Plover, Golden-cheeked Warbler, and Western Yellow-billed Cuckoo. If we get 25 new monthly donors before midnight we’ll be on track to unlock an additional $30,000 for the birds we love. Can we count on you?

Sincerely,
