This infamous Supreme Court ruling in 2010 opened the floodgates for unlimited corporate spending in our elections, drowning out the voices of everyday Americans.
In a country founded on the principles of equality and fair representation, Citizens United stands as a stark contradiction. It allows the wealthiest individuals and corporations to wield disproportionate influence over our political process. This is a fundamental threat to our democratic values.
The consequences are clear and damaging: policies that favor the rich and powerful at the expense of the many. Our elections have turned into bidding wars, where the highest spender often has the loudest say. This undermines the very essence of democracy, where every citizen should have an equal voice.
