Hi
Friend of Trevor,
Our community showed up for LGBTQ+ young people in a BIG WAY for Giving Tuesday. It’s inspiring! Your generosity, gifts from your fellow donors, and $150,000 in matching funds from our proud partner lululemon will fuel Trevor’s work in the months ahead.
We include the following statistic in many of the emails we send because it’s just that powerful: affirmation can be life-saving. When LGBTQ+ young people report feeling accepted by just one adult, their odds of attempting suicide are significantly lower. In many instances, by more than 40%.
A key component of Trevor’s mission is ensuring there are allies wherever LGBTQ+ young people need support — their homes, schools, doctor’s offices, local, state, and national legislatures, other government agencies, and wider communities.
And that’s where you come in,
friend!Â
All of us have the power to be the one — a compassionate adult who embraces an LGBTQ+ young person as their authentic self.
And, if and when it’s safe for you to do so, here are other ways you can let the young people in your community know you support them:
★ |
Sharing Trevor’s guides and resources to help other affirming adults better support the LGBTQ+ young people in their communities.
|
★ |
Displaying a pride flag to show LGBTQ+ young people that you provide a safe space.
|
★ |
Introducing yourself and providing your pronouns, or adding your pronouns to your social media accounts.
|
For all you do to affirm and protect young LGBTQ+ lives, you have my deepest gratitude.
Warmly,
Amanda Ryan-Smith
