Olympia Toy Run to close a portion of Deschutes Parkway Saturday, Dec. 2
Event & Location: The Olympia Toy Run, a yearly event that draws thousands of motorcycles to Olympia, will close Deschutes Parkway between Lakeridge Drive and 5th Avenue on Saturday, Dec. 2. Deschutes Parkway will be open to traffic and parking south of Lakeridge Drive.
The event also includes use of Marathon Park.
When: The motorcyclists meet at South Sound Center in Lacey at about 10 a.m., then parade to Marathon Park for the event around 1 p.m. The event is expected to end at 3 p.m.
Impacts: In addition to the road closure, there will be noise, parking, and traffic impacts. Drivers can expect heavy traffic and long delays in downtown Olympia during the event. The parade will take place along Pacific Avenue, State Avenue, Capitol Way, Fifth Avenue, and Deschutes Parkway.
Motorcyclists donate toys and money to The Salvation Army's Toy and Joy Shop, which distributes the gifts to children in need.
