Not going to lie to you, Jack, this has been a really hard year.

After two of our three sources of revenue continually lagged behind budget projections, Daily Kos was forced to make deep budget cuts and other changes in hopes of finding more sustainable financial ground.

The Daily Kos staff put in a lot more time and energy to make sure that you, our readers and activists, never noticed any of these changes. We are still producing the quality content and effective actions you have always relied on.

During the year, our community's generosity sustained our work. We were able to offset revenue losses by increasing our fundraising goals and thanks to our readers and activists, surpassing those increased goals.

Even though we have seen some financial improvements, our revenue is still falling behind our forecasted projections. However, what has me worried is that I don't think we will reach our fundraising goal this month, putting more pressure on our budget needs.
