John,
After Justice Democrats supported AOC’s victory against the establishment, the DCCC responded with the blacklist, refusing to work with any vendors that supported primary challengers to Democratic incumbents.
Now, candidates funded by corporate PACs and right-wing megadonors are lining up to challenge progressive incumbents like Cori Bush, Summer Lee, and Jamaal Bowman in their primary elections next year — and the Democratic Party hasn’t made a peep.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries — who received more than $280,000 from AIPAC and Pro-Israel America PAC in 2022 alone — had a problem when our people-powered movement challenged the status quo by primarying out-of-touch moderate incumbents in 2018 and 2020.
But when asked about outside groups like AIPAC threatening to spend $100 million to unseat this group of Black and brown, progressive, working-class incumbents in 2024, Jeffries responded, “Outside groups are gonna do what outside groups are gonna do.”
The double standard is obvious and shameful. While the Party fails to stand up for the Squad, we’re staying focused on doing everything in our power to defend them from groups like AIPAC and Moderate PAC, who are funded by GOP millionaires and supported 109 Republicans who voted to overturn the 2020 presidential election.
Thank you for powering our grassroots movement to protect and expand our bloc of young, diverse, and working-class progressives in Congress. We couldn’t do this without you.
— Justice Democrats
