I wanted to give you a quick update on the 2023 rainbow wave: 234 LGBTQ+ candidates WON this year (so far!), beating previous odd year win numbers. Victory Fund's win rate is over 70% for the year!

But win or lose, running for office is not easy. And it can be even harder for LGBTQ+ candidates! So many of our candidates run despite knowing they could face personal attacks, simply because they feature their partner or make LGBTQ+ issues a pillar of their platform. They run because they care about their communities and want to see positive changes from our government. That's incredibly brave!

In the weeks before the elections, my team and I traveled the country to help get out the vote for our candidates. When I was knocking doors for Danica Roem and Joshua Cole in Virginia, I heard firsthand just how excited voters were about their campaigns - and how their work for equality inspired those same voters to cast their ballot for them.

Those conversations make an impact, and not just on Election Day. Every LGBTQ+ candidate that hits the campaign trail is changing hearts and minds, showing voters that LGBTQ+ people aren't the boogeyman the bigots make us out to be.
