Dear Friend,
Right now, there is a Senate Joint Resolution, SJRes47, aimed at blocking a Department of Justice rule allowing incarcerated people released to home confinement during the COVID-19 pandemic to remain home. This means more than 3,000 people on home confinement could be sent back to federal prison.
We must Keep Them Home! Tell your senators to vote no on SJRes47: [link removed] [[link removed]]
During the COVID-19 pandemic, more than 13,000 incarcerated individuals were granted extended home confinement under the CARES Act. More than 3,000 people are still on CARES Act home confinement. These individuals have followed the rules to the letter and have contributed greatly to their families, workplaces, and communities.
It makes no sense to send someone who has gotten such a successful jumpstart on their reentry back to prison. This joint resolution is cruel and unnecessary. We’ve fought to #KeepThemHome before, and we’re ready to do it again—but we need your help, friends.
Contact your senators today. Tell them to vote NO on this resolution and to keep these individuals home where they belong. [link removed] [[link removed]]
Thank you,
