Birds are disappearing. Start a monthly gift to help protect them. ([link removed])

There’s no way around it: Our birds are in trouble. Just this year the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service declared 10 birds extinct. And unfortunately right now, there are dozens of bird species—like the Golden-cheeked Warbler, Western Yellow-billed Cuckoo, and the Piping Plover—who are currently threatened or endangered with extinction.

If we don't act to slow climate change, this bird extinction crisis will become much worse in the future. Our research identified nearly 400 North American species at increasing risk of extinction from climate change!

Birds can’t ask you for your help, but we can, and thanks to a generous group of donors, we’re extending our Giving Tuesday challenge and looking for 300 new monthly donors over the next two days. Your gift will help unlock an additional $30,000 for birds like the Piping Plover if we can stay on course with 150 new monthly donors before midnight—so please don’t delay. ([link removed])

Audubon is working to make a positive impact for the Piping Plover—and all birds who are on the brink of extinction.

Just last year, Great Lakes Piping Plovers had a record-breaking nesting season. We saw 150 chicks make their way into the wild—this marked the greatest number of chicks fledged since the species joined the Endangered Species list in 1986.

This work couldn’t happen without your support, and there is still more work to do. Despite the steady increase in pairs since listing, the population is only about halfway to the recovery goal of 150 breeding pairs. But we know we can get there with your help.

The Piping Plover is endangered in 13 states and nearly gone from the Great Lakes.

With 3 degrees of warming, the Piping Plover is at risk of losing 87% of its range.

We’re making strides for the Piping Plover and many of the birds who are on the brink of extinction. That’s why we’ve extended our Giving Tuesday Challenge to maximize our impact for all our vulnerable birds.

We can unlock another $30,000 for birds, but we need 150 new monthly donors with us before midnight to stay on course. Can we count on your support? ([link removed])

Sincerely,

National Audubon Society
