Sherriff and Robin
*Supported by Cllrs Hayley Spain and Andrew Rule, there was a Fun Day at the Park Gate Community Centre on Nobel Road held on Saturday 21 October.*
This was a lovely family event with food and activities for adults and children from the community. The event was really well attended, and guests included The Sherriff of Nottingham who came along with Robin Hood – much to the children’s delight! Activities included bulb planting around the play areas, a magician, juggling and arts and crafts. A massive thank you to everyone who made it possible. It was great to see so many people there!

Streets for People programme making good progress
c west s4p
*Over 135 resurfacing schemes have been completed so far across the city.*
In 2021, the council successfully bid as part of a competitive process for money from the Government’s Levelling Up fund to improve streets and local town centres, and make walking and cycling easier and safer.
The majority of the schemes prioritised from Clifton West’s Streets for People funding allocation have either been delivered or are in progress. This includes the parking scheme covering the Orford Avenue/Sturgeon Avenue/Brooksby Lane area of Clifton, parking restrictions on Brookthorpe Way and the carriageway improvement works on Nobel Road and Fabis Drive. The planned footpath works on Vernon Avenue in Wilford should be completed in December, with the carriageway improvement works on Village Road in Clifton Road being completed in the New Year.
We are also setting money aside for tree work and bin replacements. You can find out more by visiting the streets for people website [ [link removed] ].

Would you recognise the signs of gambling harm?
Gambling
Gambling can affect physical and mental health, damage relationships and leave people feeling lonely and isolated. It can also cause problems with employment, education, housing and lead to serious debt.
Gambling-related harm is under-recognised and often hidden. Many people being harmed by gambling don’t see themselves as a person with a problem and don’t recognise the issues it’s causing. When people do recognise they may have a problem, it can be hard to talk about it, or to reach out for help because of guilt, shame or worry.
If you notice that you, or someone you know is feeling stressed, anxious, thinking about gambling a lot of the time, or hiding their gambling from others, it could be a sign of gambling harm.

Become a foster carer
fostering
You can make difference for children in Nottingham by becoming a foster carer. The number of children in care in Nottingham is at a record high and we need more carers to provide children with a safe, secure and loving home. A home where they can thrive, grow and reach their potential.
Fostering is looking after a child when they can’t live with their own family. This can be for a couple of days, a few months, or many years. The children come from a range of different cultural, ethnic and religious backgrounds.
As a foster carer with Nottingham City Council you will get a weekly allowance. The allowance varies according to the child’s age and number of children you foster.
