- (@Jules31415) In case you live in Denver and need another reason to homeschool your kids, the Denver school district has adopted a “language justice” policy as a “long term goal.” It will encourage non-English speaking students to learn in their native language instead of being educated in English, which advocates believe is oppressive and rooted in racism. There are about 90,250 students in the district with 35,000 of those being multilingual learners; all told, 200 languages are spoken across the district. The district defines “language justice” as “The notion of respecting every individual’s fundamental language rights – to be able to communicate, understand, and be understood in the language in which they prefer and feel most articulate and powerful.” No details have been provided on the costs or how this policy will be implemented.
