*We expanded our unique work to new states and filed lawsuits on behalf of elephant clients in Colorado and Hawaii
*We continued our fight to Free The Fresno Elephants in the California Supreme Court, gaining amicus support from scientific experts, civil rights advocates, and legal scholars
*We worked with Ojai City Council to pass a local ordinance recognizing elephants’ right to bodily liberty in Ojai, CA—the first legislation in the US to recognize the legal rights of a nonhuman animal
*We partnered with New York City Council Member. Shahana Hanif to introduce the first elephant captivity ban in the US, which would free Happy and Patty from captivity in the Bronx Zoo
*We launched a first-of-its-kind educational resource, Free To Be Elephants, which tracks and shares the stories of over 250 elephants imprisoned in the AZA zoo system
