Friend — earlier this month, we got the incredible news that a major donor put up a $100,000 challenge grant to fund LCV’s pro-environment campaigns into the new year.
The catch is that this grant ONLY unlocks if 1,000 LCV members make a contribution before midnight on Giving Tuesday — that’s tonight, just a few hours away. And right now, we’re not on track to meet this goal.
We really can’t afford to come up short on this one. Please, please, please renew your LCV membership and help unlock an additional $100,000 to fund our critical campaigns >>
REMEMBER: If you start a monthly donation — even if it’s just $5 — we get to count it 12 times!
Friend, we honestly can’t afford to leave this kind of money on the table — not when our movement is up against so much, and the stakes are so high for people and our planet. Here’s a little more info why hitting this goal matters SO much:
- Because Republicans are still threatening to shut down our government unless they get massive cuts to environmental programs. We just narrowly avoided a government shutdown, but the next funding deadline is right around the corner, and every environmental legislative attack the MAGA fringe has passed in recent weeks is still on the table: We have to make sure all of our progress doesn’t end up on the chopping block now. We’re counting on your support to defend the environment in Congress. Pitch in now >>
- Because we can get closer to our goal of protecting 30 percent of U.S. lands and waters by 2030 with more monument designations. President Biden has already taken action to protect cultural and sacred sites for Indigenous people and landscapes rich in ecological and historical value in Nevada and Arizona, accessible plateaus and ridges in Texas, landmarks honoring the fight for racial justice and snow-capped peaks in Colorado, among others. Now there are even more opportunities to protect more lands and culturally significant sites for people rather than for logging and fossil fuel industries — and we need people like you on our side. We can win these fights, but only if the environmental movement shows up >>
- Because we have the chance to shut down the Dakota Access Oil Pipeline once and for all. For years, the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe has led the fight against the dirty Pipeline, which threatens clean drinking water for millions of people. Now, the Army Corps of Engineers has been ordered by the courts to conduct a new environmental impact analysis and take public comment as a result of the Tribe’s steadfast opposition. This is our best-ever opportunity to shut down this project — and your support can help make that happen. Donate today >>
- Because a group of donors has offered $100,000 in matching gift funds. Bottom line: Your contribution goes further to win environmental campaigns that matter if you give now and help unlock this critical funding. Renew your LCV membership for $5 today >>
Friend — if we can get 1,000 donations before midnight tonight and unlock the $100,000 challenge grant, it’ll be a gamechanger for each and every one of these campaigns.
The ONLY way we’ll get there is with your help — I really hope you’ll renew your membership today. Remember: Even gifts of $5 count!
Thank you for your support of LCV’s work!
Onward,
