John —
My name is Steve Kerr. You might know me as the head coach of the Golden State Warriors, but that’s not why I’m writing to you today. Instead, I'm about to share my story with you and explain why your gift to Brady could not be more important.
Before I was an NBA championship coach, before I was a player, I was just a young man working hard to make my dreams come true. But 39 years ago, my life was shattered when my father was shot and killed outside his office.
That was the moment I realized no one is immune to gun violence until we all are — and to make the world safer for all of us, we need to be honest about the fight ahead. We have a right to live without the constant fear of gun violence, but as long as the NRA continues to threaten this right, our fight isn't over. And I'm proud to take on that fight alongside the incredible activists and survivors at Brady.
Brady works every single day to loosen the gun lobby's chokehold on our lives and stop gun violence from claiming any more of our friends, family, and neighbors. But it's not easy — the NRA is spending MILLIONS to stop life-saving progress, and Brady is fully relying on grassroots supporters like you to make tangible change in this country.
That's why today is especially critical: Giving Tuesday is the most important day of the year for Brady and you can make your biggest impact to power Brady's life-saving work and finally defeat the NRA. Brady set a huge goal of $400,000 — and every single grassroots dollar they raise will be DOUBLED. But we have less than 24 hours to get there, and if we fall short, the NRA won't hesitate to kick us while we're down. Please, will you donate RIGHT NOW to double your gift, defeat the NRA, and save lives from gun violence?
I can’t emphasize this enough: If we’re going to move forward with Brady’s plan for gun safety reform, we need to join forces to overcome the NRA. Together, we’re unstoppable, and I hope you’ll join me in this fight to take action on gun violence, John.
