PFAW Member, For years, Facebook has denied or downplayed its role in spreading political disinformation. We’re now well into the 2020 election cycle, and Mark Zuckerberg’s recent half-baked promises to remove certain conspiracy theories are far from enough.1 Every day new lies are being spread – especially by the pro-Trump Right and the other interests that are dead-set on re-electing Donald Trump by any means necessary. It’s clearer than ever that Facebook’s policies are a threat to our democracy. That’s why we’re aiming to collect at least 60,000 petition signatures before the end of the month to hand deliver to Facebook’s office in DC and demand that they change their policies! Add your name now: Tell Facebook that allowing lies in political advertising is unacceptable>> If Facebook allows its advertising platform to spread false claims and misleading information during yet another election, our basic freedoms are at risk. We cannot allow Facebook’s starring role in the right-wing disinformation machine to continue. PFAW is calling for the social media giant to be held accountable for their failure to prevent misinformation on their platform, and we need to demonstrate the public outcry for their refusal to take this problem seriously! Join us now. It’s simple: politicians and political advertisers should NOT be exempt from the company’s misinformation policy. Now it’s up to us to turn on the pressure and make sure the world’s largest social media platform does not allow itself to be used as a weapon against democracy. In solidarity, - Sarah, Digital Campaign Associate
