Here are some recent updates.
* The Ohio Supreme Court’s 4-3 Republican majority dismissed ([link removed]) a trio of lawsuits challenging the state’s House and Senate maps, leaving in place gerrymandered districts for 2024.

* The entire 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals will rehear a case challenging the commissioners' map of Galveston County, Texas. The unprecedented move voids a decision from a panel of 5th Circuit judges striking down the map for violating the Voting Rights Act (VRA) by suppressing Black and Latino voters.
+ The three-judge panel affirmed ([link removed]) a lower court's decision that the map violates the VRA but asked the whole 5th Circuit to rehear the case. The panel wants to review a precedent that allows multi-racial coalitions to file VRA claims together.
* A federal court in New Mexico held a hearing in a 14th Amendment challenge to former President Donald Trump's eligibility to be on the state's ballot for the 2024 presidential election.

Here’s what to expect coming up.
* Tomorrow in Georgia, a special legislative session is scheduled ([link removed]) to begin for lawmakers to enact new maps after a federal judge struck down ([link removed]) the state’s legislative and congressional maps after finding that the maps violate the VRA.
