This month, we've been spending almost all our time rallying our people-power to raise awareness and money to give to the
Oscar Grant Foundation and the
Coalition for Food and Health Equity.
These organizations are constantly doing extraordinary work for Black communities. It's truly an honor, and this is a part of what our mission has
always been about.
Here's the update…we've been raising for the last 2 weeks. But our work is far from over.
It's going to take a massive push from all of us to reach our goal. But lucky for us, this is not new for us. We have you, and you have always stood by us to help make the lives of our communities better than whatever the government thinks it provides. It's a reminder that WE keep US safe.

Coalition for Food and Health Equity: The Coalition for Food and Health Equity builds power within communities through sustainable, community-grown cultures of health. They place hunger within the larger context of racial health equity, working to end hunger, improve health, and advance economic equity within historically marginalized communities.

Oscar Grant Foundation: The foundation exists to help mend the distrust between residents in predominantly Black, high-crime communities and law enforcement. They aim to build the self-esteem of youth, support mothers whose sons have been killed by gun violence, and improve the relationship between their local police and their community.
We only succeed in numbers, John. And now, we've got to keep the momentum going so we can help fuel resources for the efforts of these organizations.

To be very honest, we've already seen what the field looks like when organizations try to get funding from places and people who don't support us or look like us. It's hurdle after hurdle. It's “NO” after “NO,” and out of nowhere, the door closes.
But, because of Giving Tuesday these last few years, we have been able to count on each other and provide resources and funding for organizations dedicated to doing work that helps eradicate white supremacy.
It's not difficult to understand that our communities are fighting to survive. But we need to do more than just survive – we want to thrive. These two organizations are working to ensure just that.
