Recent headlines demonstrate how disaster and violence can challenge the stability of families and wither progress of entire communities. Yet, in places around the world, new possibilities are taking root.
In Guatemala, Mercy Corps is helping Rogelio reach new markets and improve production for the vegetables he grows. He and a group of 30 farmers received funding to improve their irrigation pipes, which has helped them increase their profits, put money away in savings, and build more resilience.

In Ukraine, Lyubov and Igor fled their homes after the Kakhovka Dam broke and their town of Kherson flooded. Lyubov’s workplace flooded as well, putting him out of a job. Mercy Corps provided cash assistance for food, supplies, and rent to help them after they lost nearly everything.

In the Democratic Republic of Congo, Marie-Claire spent an hour each day for 20 years fetching water that wasn’t reliably safe to drink. Then, Mercy Corps installed a water system that filters water from a nearby spring. The new system is life-changing: it now takes Marie-Claire 5 minutes to fetch water and she no longer worries if it will make her children sick.

These are just a few examples of how Mercy Corps is connecting communities to nutritious food, clean water, economic opportunity, and peaceful tomorrows.

With your generous support, we will continue our work to help communities develop innovative solutions and change the lives of people like Rogelio, Lyubov, Igor, Marie-Claire, and others all over the world.

Every dollar and every donor matters as we head into 2024, which will, no doubt, bring further crises and challenges across the world. So don’t wait: Make your tax-deductible #GivingTuesday gift before midnight.

Thank you,

The Mercy Corps team
