CORONAVIRUS UPDATE
From the very beginning, the state of Texas has led a proactive and coordinated effort to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus, protect public health, and safeguard our communities. On Monday I spoke with Vice Mike President Pence to discuss the steps we are taking to contain the coronavirus, and Texas will continue to work with federal and local health officials to ensure that Texas communities have the necessary resources and the most up-to-date information. Last week we announced that Texas now has statewide testing capabilities at public health labs across the state. With these labs equipped and operational, Texas is better prepared to confront and mitigate any potential spread of the coronavirus. |
We are taking steps to ensure no Texan is denied access to testing resources relating to the coronavirus. That’s why we’ve asked Texas insurance providers to waive costs associated with testing and telemedicine visits for the diagnosis of coronavirus. |
As we continue to respond to coronavirus around the state of Texas, we will not tolerate any business that exploits public health for monetary gain. |
TEXAS IS ONE OF THE MOST PREPARED STATES FOR PUBLIC HEALTH DISASTERS IN THE U.S.
A new report shows that Texas is one of the most prepared states in the country to deal with public health disasters. This report took into account Texas’ hospital preparedness, public health funding, water security, paid time off, seasonal flu vaccines, and patient safety. |
This week we released the Report to the People of Texas — a look back at all that was accomplished by and for the people of our great state over the last year. The report includes a summary of the historic 86th Legislative Session, when lawmakers and I worked to pass landmark legislation that: - Reins in property taxes - Reforms Texas’ school finance system and prioritizes student achievement - Gives Texas teachers a pay raise - Improves school safety - Combats human trafficking We achieved all of this and so much more thanks to your support and because of the leaders you sent to Austin. Our state is one of boundless opportunity, and it will continue to be for generations to come. |

GREAT TO SEE TEXAS HERO JACK WILSON IN NAVARRO COUNTY
Last week, I enjoyed visiting with members of the Navarro County Republican Party where I had the opportunity to speak with Texas hero Jack Wilson. The state of Texas awarded Jack Wilson the Governor’s Medal of Courage for his heroic actions that stopped the shooter and saved lives at West Freeway Church of Christ last December. GET INVOLVED, STAY INVOLVED The 2020 election is 237 days away. We need to continue our efforts to protect the Republican majority in the Texas House and keep Texas red in November. We need all hands on deck. You can help us elect Republican leaders and share the message of conservative values by going HERE. |
