Friend — earlier, we shared the news that for Giving Tuesday, a major donor had pledged to contribute a $100,000 gift to LCV.
There’s a catch. We only get this gift IF — and only IF — 1,000 supporters like you also pitch in by midnight tonight.
As things stand, we are still 358 donations short of reaching that goal.
This is an important one: What we raise today will have SUCH a big impact on the environmental campaigns we can run going into the new year, that we’re asking everyone to pitch in:

This is a big goal to reach — but if you start a monthly donation — even if it’s just $5 — we get to count it 12 times. I hope we’ll hear from you today!

Friend — Today is Giving Tuesday, the global day of generosity to support the causes you care about most. And as an LCV supporter, I know that, for you, ensuring a healthy, safe, and just world for current and future generations is a top priority.
That’s why I’m hoping you’ll join our Giving Tuesday challenge now: A donor has pledged to contribute an additional $100,000 Giving Tuesday gift to LCV to fund our work into 2024, IF — and only IF — 1,000 supporters make a Giving Tuesday donation to LCV by midnight tonight.

(If you’re able to start a monthly donation — even if it’s just $5 — we get to count it 12 times. This will have such a huge impact on the campaigns we can run going into the new year, so we’re asking everyone to pitch in what they can.)
With your help, I know that LCV can continue to make meaningful progress towards protecting our communities and our planet for generations to come.
Here are just a few reasons why your Giving Tuesday gift is EXTRA important right now:
- Because Republicans are still threatening to shut down our government unless they get massive cuts to environmental programs. We just narrowly avoided a government shutdown, but the next funding deadline is right around the corner, and every environmental legislative attack the MAGA fringe has passed in recent weeks is still on the table: We have to make sure all of our progress doesn’t end up on the chopping block now. We’re counting on your support to defend the environment in Congress. Pitch in now >>
- Because we can get closer to our goal of protecting 30 percent of U.S. lands and waters by 2030 with more monument designations. President Biden has already taken action to protect cultural and sacred sites for Indigenous people and landscapes rich in ecological and historical value in Nevada and Arizona, accessible plateaus and ridges in Texas, landmarks honoring the fight for racial justice and snow-capped peaks in Colorado, among others. Now there are even more opportunities to protect more lands and culturally significant sites for people rather than for logging and fossil fuel industries — and we need people like you on our side. We can win these fights, but only if the environmental movement shows up >>
- Because we have the chance to shut down the Dakota Access Oil Pipeline once and for all. For years, the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe has led the fight against the dirty Pipeline, which threatens clean drinking water for millions of people. Now, the Army Corps of Engineers has been ordered by the courts to conduct a new environmental impact analysis and take public comment as a result of the Tribe’s steadfast opposition. This is our best-ever opportunity to shut down this project — and your support can help make that happen. Donate today >>
- Because a group of donors has offered $100,000 in matching gift funds. Bottom line: Your contribution goes further to win environmental campaigns that matter if you give now and help unlock this critical funding. Renew your LCV membership for $5 today >>
Meeting our Giving Tuesday goal matters. I hope you’ll pitch in: Our match unlock goal is 1,000 donors, but it ends at midnight tonight. Renew your membership now. Even $5 can have a huge impact >>
Thank you for your support of LCV’s work!
Onward,
