Friend,
After a months-long, worker-led campaign and a six-week “Stand Up” strike, United Auto Workers members at General Motors, Ford, and Stellantis have ratified their contracts! From Portland to Philly, and Chicago to Orlando, the Jobs With Justice network mobilized to deliver aid and good old-fashioned solidarity to the UAW picket lines.

Through strong leadership, worker solidarity, a bold ‘stand up’ strike strategy, and a groundswell of community support, the UAW forced the Big Three to deliver for their workers.
Key victories for UAW members:
- The elimination of unfair, two-tier wage systems.
- Record-setting wage increases.
- Expanded bargaining opportunities for workers at electric vehicle battery manufacturing plants.
- The right to strike over plant closures, and the reopening of the Stellantis Belvidere Assembly Plant.
“The UAW is back to setting the standard,” President Shawn Fain said in a statement. “Now, we take our strike muscle and our fighting spirit to the rest of the industries we represent, and to millions of non-union workers ready to Stand Up and fight for a better way of life."
Days after the UAW announced tentative agreements at the Big Three, Toyota and Hyundai announced raises for non-union workers. The pressure on automakers to compete with union standards is already making an impact.
“This is a historic moment for workers,” said Erica Smiley, Jobs With Justice Executive Director. “We are seeing significant gains and increasing opportunities for organizing and collective bargaining power. It’s clearer than ever that a just, worker-led transition is not only possible, it’s happening now. When workers and communities stand in solidarity against corporate greed, we all thrive.”
