I’m Mae Bradham, a Crisis Services Manager at The Trevor Project. Through my work, I know the positive impact that sharing life-affirming words can have on a young person facing a crisis. Communicating that they are valued, have a meaningful place, and that they’re not alone can make a profound difference.
I share this because we know that LGBTQ+ young people who have at least one accepting adult in their life report significantly lower rates of attempting suicide.Caring people like you who support Trevor’s mission may not communicate with the young people who contact us, but every day I see the huge difference their generosity makes. That’s why I’m asking you to join them by making your first gift today.
Please don’t delay. Matching funds from our proud partner lululemon will double your contribution — but only until midnight.*
Last year, my fellow crisis counselors and I had more than 500,000 conversations with LGBTQ+ young people. That’s 50% more than the year before — and around 1,350 young people still reach out to us every day. Please help us continue to meet this demand, while providing the highest quality of care — 24/7/365.
This work is a lot of responsibility, especially when 41% of LGBTQ+ young people seriously considered attempting suicide this past year — and young people who are transgender, nonbinary, and/or people of color reported even higher rates. I’m proud that I can be the one who gives a young person hope to get through a tough moment and see a bright future.
