[Urgent: Bird Extinction Crisis; Allen's Hummingbird] ([link removed])

Allen's Hummingbird.

[Clock Graphic; Giving Challenge: Time is running out!] ([link removed])

Soar to birds’ defense this Giving Tuesday ([link removed])

Wildfires are incinerating their habitat—and repeated burns don’t allow for any recovery. Spring heat waves threaten young chicks in their nests. Urbanization is demolishing their native habitat. The Allen’s Hummingbird is facing multiple threats from climate change that could lead to their extinction—just like 388 other North American bird species including the Golden-cheeked Warbler. We can’t let that happen.

For the sake of all birds, please join us by becoming one of the 1,000 monthly donors needed during our giving challenge. Thanks to a group of generous donors, your monthly gift will help secure an additional $200,000 for birds in need—but only until midnight tonight! ([link removed])

[Half of all bird species are in decline.] ([link removed])

We’re responding to the urgent climate and extinction crises with our proven combination of rigorous research, focused advocacy, and expert on-the-ground conservation. From advancing transformational policies that reduce carbon emissions and support well-sited green energy to leading adaptive land management practices that will mitigate the impact of sea level rise and climate change, we know how to build a safer future for the birds we love.

Preventing a bird extinction crisis

We’ve lost 3 billion birds in the span of one lifetime.

According to the North American Breeding Bird Survey, Allen’s Hummingbird populations declined by 80% between 1968 and 2019.

Allen’s Hummingbirds could lose 64% of their range in a 3 degree warming scenario.

We are committed to protecting birds and their habitats, today and tomorrow—and we’re relying on steady, dependable support from committed friends like you to make it all possible. Join your fellow bird lovers this Giving Tuesday: Be one of the 150 caring supporters that we’re relying on to make a monthly donation right away. Until midnight, your gift will help unlock an additional $200,000 gift to protect birds and their habitats. ([link removed])

Sincerely,

National Audubon Society
