John,
Today is Giving Tuesday—a global day of giving where many nonprofits experience a major influx of donations to help further their cause.
We hope you’ll consider supporting CHN because time and again we help persuade Congress to fund billions of dollars in support for people with low incomes. Case in point: Congress is debating a tax package that is nothing more than a giveaway to corporations. But when Congress is focused on giving hundreds of billions of dollars in tax breaks to major corporations, CHN is there to demand that they must make it a top priority to expand the Child Tax Credit and give a boost to low-income families with children.
Vulnerable families, marginalized communities, people with disabilities, and LGBTQ+ people don’t have high-priced lobbyists advocating for them on Capitol Hill. But they do have the Coalition on Human Needs.
Donate $5 this Giving Tuesday to support our activism and demand Congress include the expanded Child Tax Credit in the tax package being negotiated right now.

Expanding the Child Tax Credit will allow it to reach the lowest-income families, reducing racial inequities while slashing child poverty.
Thank you for all you do,
Meredith Dodson Senior Director of Public Policy, Coalition on Human Needs

John,
Tomorrow is Giving Tuesday! While 2023 has been full of surprises, one thing that has never wavered has been our commitment to uplifting marginalized communities in important policy debates.
Congress returns after the Thanksgiving holiday and one of their top priorities is passing a tax package that benefits billion dollar corporations. They’ve got high-priced, corporate lobbyists demanding more corporate tax handouts—but we’re fighting back, demanding any tax package prioritize children and families.
Help us kick off Giving Tuesday with a donation today and to fuel our work to include the expanded Child Tax Credit in any upcoming tax package.

Instead of Congress giving hundreds of billions of dollars to corporations in the form of tax breaks, they must focus on tax policies for low-income families, ensuring the full Child Tax Credit (CTC) reaches those most in need.
Any tax package MUST include the expanded Child Tax Credit for lower-income families. When Congress expanded the CTC in 2021, it increased the maximum amount of the credit from $2,000 per child to $3,600 for children aged 5 and under, and to $3,000 for children up to age 17.1 Child poverty dropped by almost half and low-income families were better able to afford basic expenses like housing, food, utilities, and child care.
We know human needs programs and policies are popular among the American public. But time and again, conservatives in Congress tell us that we can’t afford these critical investments. We need your support to counter the high-priced corporate lobbyists and demand members of Congress fight for vulnerable communities.
Tomorrow is Giving Tuesday. Make a donation of $5 today to fight for the expanded Child Tax Credit.
