When a bird goes extinct, it’s gone forever. Right now, at least 389 bird species are at increasing risk of climate extinction, including the beloved Allen’s Hummingbird and the Piping Plover. This tiny juggernaut has already lost 88% of its population since 1970 according to the North American Breeding Bird Survey.

Unless we act together today, in honor of Giving Tuesday, even more birds could vanish. Will you commit to their protection with a monthly gift today? We’re counting on 175 bird lovers to join together before midnight tonight to unlock an additional $200,000 gift, thanks to a generous group of donors. ([link removed])

[Urgent: Bird Extinction Crisis; Allen's Hummingbird] ([link removed])

Allen's Hummingbird.

[Clock Graphic; Giving Challenge: Time is running out!] ([link removed])

It’s Giving Tuesday! Amplify your impact for birds before midnight. ([link removed])

The Allen’s Hummingbird is a species in a worrisome decline. According to the North American Breeding Bird Survey, their populations have plummeted by a staggering 88% since 1970. And without immediate climate action, they’re projected to lose half of their remaining population within the next 17 years. Sadly, they’re far from alone: right now, Two in three North American bird species are at increasing risk of climate extinction.

We must ensure their protection before it’s too late. And there’s no better opportunity to help than Giving Tuesday. We’re counting on 175 committed bird lovers to start a monthly gift today to power our best efforts on behalf of birds. Thanks to a group of generous donors, your gift will help secure an additional $200,000 for birds in need if we get 1,000 new monthly donors in this campaign. ([link removed])

[Half of all bird species are in decline.] ([link removed])

With more than a century of protecting birds under our wing, we are defending the laws that protect birds at risk, advocating for strong legislation like the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act, keeping important landscapes and waters resilient, and fighting for the bold climate action birds need now. And with thorough research, we’ve demonstrated the positive impact of stewardship and powerful advocacy on birds like the Allen’s Hummingbird and the Golden-cheeked Warbler, which help create a blueprint for protecting vulnerable birds across the range of habitats where we work.

Preventing a bird extinction crisis

We’ve lost 3 billion birds in the span of one lifetime.

According to the North American Breeding Bird Survey, Allen’s Hummingbird populations declined by 80% between 1968 and 2019.

Allen’s Hummingbirds could lose 64% of their range in a 3 degree warming scenario.

But this extinction crisis won’t be solved overnight, and can’t be solved without help from generous people like you. So we’re asking you to act this Giving Tuesday. We need 175 new monthly donors to rise to this challenge. Please don’t wait: Make your monthly donation now while it will help unlock $200,000 in additional critical funding. Hurry, this offer expires at midnight tonight! ([link removed])
