The Biden administration is facing its newest climate hurdle as it decides whether to grant 20 new liquified natural gas export facilities in the Gulf of Mexico. These facilities would result in an extra 3.2 billion tons of greenhouse gas emissions annually — which is close to the entire annual emissions of the EU.
We have just experienced one of the hottest years on record. The writing is on the wall: The global climate crisis is here, and we can no longer afford massive new fossil fuel projects.
