Dear Friend of CURE Epilepsy,

Captain Jack Somers, a former United States Marine, spent more than a decade managing his seizures before finally receiving his epilepsy diagnosis. While training at Camp Pendelton, his seizures became a regular occurrence, ultimately leading to the premature end of his military career. Upon separating from the Marine Corps, Jack would endure 12 years of seizures and over 40 treatment plans before being diagnosed with epilepsy.

"I feel like I could have better served the community had I just been told or diagnosed properly and said, 'You have epilepsy, Jack, now what are we going to do about it?'"

Each year at least 150,000 people are diagnosed with epilepsy, but far too often people living with epilepsy face a long road to reach that diagnosis. Many clinicians cannot easily access the full range of appropriate epilepsy diagnostics. That is why your gift today is so important. CURE Epilepsy’s patient-focused research continues to improve treatment and diagnostic protocols by funding research to bring us closer to a world without epilepsy.

Today, on Giving Tuesday, your gift will be doubled to ensure that no good research goes unfunded. Every dollar paves the path to cure epilepsy. Don’t miss the chance to double your impact with a gift today.

With hope and gratitude,

Carrie Garman

CURE Epilepsy Development Committee Chair and Board Member

P.S. If you have already made your Giving Tuesday gift, please consider this an additional thank you!
