Dear Center Community Member,
In response to the increasing call for social distancing and other precautionary measures related to preventing the spread of COVID-19, The Center will operate on a limited basis starting Monday, March 16 through Tuesday, March 31. The building will remain open with reduced staff available for inquiries. All groups, events, meetings and room reservations scheduled from March 16-31 are currently canceled or postponed, and full refunds for canceled events will be issued. Please know that this decision was made after much careful thought and deliberation, and is intended to protect our staff and community members, particularly the most vulnerable who we serve.
We recognize that this is a stressful time for all New Yorkers, and our staff are working with clients directly to arrange services via teleconference and phone when possible. Due to the limitations on providing services, we are not accepting new clients at this time. If you are a Center client and have questions about our services, please call 212.620.7310.
Our annual Center Dinner on Thursday, April 2 is still scheduled to proceed as planned. That said, we will continue to monitor information as it becomes available to determine if a change to the event’s status is required.
If you have had contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 and are experiencing symptoms, we ask that you please contact your healthcare provider and refrain from entering the building. For more information and updates on COVID-19, please check the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the NYS Department of Health websites.
We sincerely apologize to those who rely on The Center and thank you for your understanding as we take steps to ensure the safety of our staff and community members. Your health and wellbeing is our first priority, and The Center will provide updates as they are available via email, at gaycenter.org and on our social media accounts.
Sincerely,
Glennda Testone
