John,Â
I'm always thinking about my mom – especially with the holidays coming up.
I'm Inna. I left Ukraine early last year when the war escalated but Mom stayed behind. She didn't want to leave her home, the country she loves. As scared for her as I am, I understand.
While I'm so grateful to be safe in the UK working with the IRC to help other refugees like me, Ukraine still has my heart. 💛💙
That's why I was glad to have this chance to write to you and ask for your support this Giving Tuesday.
My mom – and thousands of families – are facing another tough winter ahead in Ukraine, but thanks to today’s match opportunity, your special Giving Tuesday donation goes 2x as far to provide emergency aid in Ukraine and in crisis zones around the world.
With support from people like you, the IRC has provided critical aid to those impacted since the conflict in Ukraine began. Your urgent gift today will go twice as far to power vital efforts, for example:
Â
Last winter, civilian infrastructure in Ukraine – like power stations – were bombed. That left thousands of people – my mom included — with very limited ability to heat their homes during freezing temperatures or do the basics of everyday life like cooking.
Many times last winter Mom only had four hours in a day to do all her cooking, cleaning and laundry. If that window was in the middle of the night she’d wake up and do what she needed to do.
I fear this winter will be similarly challenging, or worse, and I know there are thousands of Ukrainians who don't have the support my mom does. That's why the aid the IRC provides – and your doubled Giving Tuesday donation – are so crucial.
Can you help, John? This special Giving Tuesday match offer means every $1 you contribute has the power of $2 to help families in need. Please, make your gift right now.
I'm thinking about my mom today, and about all those in Ukraine who are working toward a bright and peaceful future. I'm grateful to know they are in your thoughts as well.
With my deepest thanks,
Inna 💛💙
