Dear Responsible Statecraft readers,

Wow, 2023 has been an incredibly intense year for foreign policy and geopolitics. Responsible Statecraft has been doing its best — and I believe very successfully — to bring you the best independent analysis of the evolving Ukraine war, European and NATO security developments, the Global South resistance to Western pressures, the U.S. competition with China, and the raging war in Gaza.

In the last year, we have provided nuanced and often sharply critical reporting of the Biden Administration’s policies on all of these issues, delivering commentary and angles that no one else has been willing or capable of, at least to the high standards of our staff and many outside contributors. Our symposiums ([link removed]) , congressional op-eds ([link removed]) , hot takes ([link removed]) , and expert Q&As ([link removed]) have featured some of the best critical thinking on realism & restraint in foreign policy today. Aside from the top scholars in the field, our contributors are a wide range of journalists, veterans, former government officials and diplomats — all with the common thread of questioning the status quo thinking of today’s Washington and international establishments.

Thanks to a relaunch of our website this year we are reaching new users and audiences everyday, and our articles are being quoted in major news outlets and podcasts across the political spectrum. RS’s transpartisan mission means that an increasing number of readers are coming to us because we do not represent nor advocate for political party agendas. We are neither Democrat or Republican, which is why we resonate with foreign policy readers who are tired of the polarization and are hungry for news and views that do not check a box or cling to ideological orthodoxies.

Our independence makes us trustworthy, reasonable, most importantly: common sense.

We would like to thank you as a subscriber of our newsletter for being part of this growing community. As a non-profit 501c3 we are sustained by grants and individual donations throughout the year. Please consider making a tax deductible contribution to Responsible Statecraft. We expect 2024 to be an even more eventful year, filled with both promise and uncertainty, thanks to an upcoming presidential election and ongoing conflicts overseas. We will continue to be your go-to for the best coverage of these events, and very much appreciate your confidence and support, as always, in our work.
Sincerely,
Kelley Beaucar Vlahos
