I’m suing Meta for harming the mental and physical health of children and teens across the country.
I’m suing Meta for harming the mental and physical health of youth across the country — and new unsealed records further reveal how Meta knew they were hurting kids, and didn’t care.
Yesterday, previously redacted information in the federal lawsuit against Meta was unsealed, and the details are damning.
We already knew Meta designed and deployed harmful features on Facebook and Instagram that caused mental and physical detriment to children and teens. But now we know:
- Mark Zuckerberg personally vetoed Meta’s proposed policy to ban image filters that simulated the effects of plastic surgery;
- Meta set explicit goals of increasing “time spent” and meticulously tracked engagement metrics, including among teen users;
- Meta continuously misrepresented that its social media platforms were safe, while internal data revealed that users experienced harm on its platforms at far higher rates;
- Meta knows that its social media platforms are used by millions of children under 13 and unlawfully collects their personal information — despite Zuckerberg testifying before Congress in 2021 that Meta “kicks off” children under 13.
Meta is knowingly profiting off of getting kids, teens, and young adults addicted to their social media platforms and exposing them to harmful content. I’m fighting to stop them.
I won’t let any corporation harm or take advantage of consumers, especially our children. Will you support me in this fight with a grassroots donation of $5 or more before Thursday’s end-of-month deadline?
