Twenty years ago, my mother was shot and killed when she opened the front door of her home. On that day, I lost my strongest supporter and my best friend. It's impossible to explain the depths of the grief, anger, and loss, that I felt — but even then I knew that I needed to do whatever I could to prevent other families from living through this nightmare. 

That's why I joined the team at Brady — so I could work alongside other gun violence survivors to take on a gun lobby who is pushing a deadly narrative in order to pad their pockets while they put lives at risk.
