With national attention shifting away from the Democratic primary and toward the general election in November, it's become clearer than ever just how important it is that Democrats win up and down the ticket.

However, the coronavirus has thrown all predictions out of the window, especially surrounding voter turnout.

Every new budget that Trump has proposed called for cuts to the CDC, his administration eliminated the pandemic response position on the National Security Council, and he has spent every possible moment removing all competent people from the government and replacing them with unqualified "yes-men" who value their jobs more than telling the truth and saving lives.

We can defeat Trump, but we won't be able to undo the damage he's caused to our infrastructure and preparedness without also ending Mitch McConnell's reign of terror in the Senate. We're laser-focused on flipping the Senate and ending the assault on our independent judiciary, the cuts to the CDC, EPA, and every other agency that keeps us safe, and the government valuing tax cuts for billionaires and corporations over the lives of average citizens.

Democrats need 4 seats to flip the Senate in 2020 and end Mitch McConnell's blockade against progressive legislation. Right now, we have our eyes on flipping as many as 8 Senate seats, but we have to turn out the vote to make sure that happens.

Our mission at When Democrats Turn Out is to prevent a repeat of the 2016 election, when millions of Democrats stayed home or were intimidated from voting at all, and Donald Trump won Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania each by just 0.7% or less. Our mission is to support every key Senate battleground race and beat Trump and McConnell in 2020.

Right now, we're falling VERY short of our fundraising goals ahead of our endorsement announcement. If we can't raise another $1,500 today, we'll have to delay endorsing critical races right when they need the money. We'll have to significantly scale back our strategy in 2020 -- right when we need to be scaling up.
