Hey, John, I hope you had a good Thanksgiving. This won’t be a long email, but since it’s Giving Tuesday, I wanted to reach out and ask for your support once again. Days like this one are meant to be for giving to organizations that will make our communities better places—and that’s exactly what this campaign is about.
If we take back the Treasurer’s office next year, we’ll have a real shot at materially improving our neighbors’ lives. We’ll be able to protect retirements for our state employees, attract a talented workforce by providing a reliable State Health Plan, help our municipalities find the funding for much-needed infrastructure improvements, and return the focus of the Treasurer’s office to building the economic fortunes of every North Carolinian.
See, when our neighbors do better, we all do better. Our resources are stretched less thin, there’s greater economic activity in our communities, and people have hope that tomorrow will be a good day—and that’s the kind of hope our democracy depends on to survive.
And I’m asking for your support on this Giving Tuesday because before we know it, it’ll be time to really ramp up our campaign operation—and with filing for our race starting next week, it’s entirely possible we’ll see a primary challenger file against us. If someone does, we’ll need to be ready to hit the ground with a world-class field operation much sooner than we otherwise would, and whether or not we have that capacity depends on the funds we raise now. It depends on your support.
