In 2016, Mitch McConnell shrunk the size of the court by blocking President Obama’s nomination of Merrick Garland.
Just a couple of years later, Republicans stole another seat when they rammed Amy Coney Barrett’s nomination through after millions of Americans had already cast their votes in the election that would ultimately unseat Donald Trump.
Back then, this was a lonely fight — many people told us that expanding the court was impossible.
But today, more than 60 members of Congress and over 140 advocacy organizations have joined our movement. Americans’ support for rebalancing the court has never been higher. And we owe it all to supporters like you.
And here’s why it matters: As long as this rogue right-wing supermajority holds control of our nation’s highest court, our rights and our democracy will remain under constant threat.
Each new corruption scandal that breaks, every time the court rolls back our rights and torches our democratic system, our work becomes more urgent. And that’s why we are asking for your help today.
If you are able, will you support our mission to expand the Supreme Court in order to safeguard our rights, protect our democracy, and restore integrity to the judiciary by helping us out this #GivingTuesday?
The justices aren’t going to hold themselves accountable for corruption, and they’re not going to stop pushing a regressive right-wing agenda. It’s up to us — all of us — to stop them.
Thank you for all that you do. I’m so grateful for your partnership in this fight.
